OK, I am a little sheepish to admit this, but I was given a Zojirushi machine in August by one of my cello student's mothers who found it brand new in a thrift store for $2 or $3 (they already had one that they'd paid full price for). And I haven't used it yet. I am turning over a new leaf. Mondays are going to be baking day. There, it's in writing. Now we're going to do it. Except, not this Monday because it's my birthday. Birthday, birthday, birthday!!!!!

Oh, I am sooo jealous of your new machine! A couple months ago my bread machine started making a noise and won't mix but dh says he will look at it. I am holding out hope for a new Z-machine though! Thanks for your tips!

I like your idea of measuring your dry ingredients ahead of time. that makes a lot of sense! I have made basic bread dough so many times lately (I am so sick of store bought bread) that I have the recipe memorized. Usually what I do is have my machine mix the dough, and then shape the dough into buns. I bake them in the regular oven-the texture doesn't get all funky that way. we eat the buns faster (with less waste) than if we made a loaf of bread.
