I asked Katrina to pick one of two things to give to her friend Abby for her birthday: a pencil roll and doodle book or an apron and cookbook. She decided to go with the apron and picked the fabric — from superbuzzy — to use. Of course we added a ruffle because in Katrina’s mind there can never be enough ruffles. I measured Katrina to get a rough idea of the length and width and then just made a pattern to put on the fold for the curve. The tie is just store bought bias tape so the whole thing came together really fast. Good thing too since I didn’t get to making it until party day.

Cute idea! What cookbook did you pick? Emeril has a really cute one for kids of all ages that Josh has been using for years.
So cute. I’m going to be making a few aprons for the wee boys for x-mas, since they are getting play kitchens. I’m planning on a tea towel and bias tape version so I guess great minds think alike.
OH, and I’d love to hear which cookbook you picked too.
Entirely too cute (the apron and the kid!). Dish with the cookbook details.
Also, unrelated but since you are the sock queen, can you recommend a beginner sock pattern? I have used DPNs once at the end of a hat.
Very, very cute! Sewing at the last minute? The best way to craft LOL!
The ruffle strikes again! I love the contrast between said ruffle and the the print. What a perfect present.
very cute! Crafting just isn’t as much fun, or at least as rewarding, if it’s not done at the very last minute.
Cute, cute. You’ll have to make one for Katrina too.
That fabric is darling–perfect for an apron.
so cute! love that fabric. and last minute crafting, is there anything else?
I loved the line, “because in katrina’s mind there can never be enough ruffles”.
what a great idea! I hope abby enjoyed it… for me as a kid, ruffly apron gifts would have been the perfect surprise… what am I talking about — I love ruffly aprons now!
