This is the first complete outfit I have sewn. I realize that it is super basic but I will say, the pants have darts and a zipper so I’m pretty impressed I did that. Also notice the purposeful use of contrast stitching. Certainly that’s an indicator that I’m getting better at this. The pants have actually been done for more than a month but the smock top — Katie calls it her people dress — was waiting for my sewing machine to return from it’s spa treatment. Unfortunately, the machine seems as temperamental as usual. Between picnics, I’m working on finishing up my quilt for the doll quilt swap. I am going to attempt machine quilting tonight — this was also waiting for the sewing machine’s return — using Katie’s doll quilt as the guinea pig. Wish me luck…

Very, very cute! Now what’s up with that sewing machine? Good luck with the machine quilting. I hope you have a walking foot – that makes things a whole lot easier.
ADORABLE! Love the people dress. That fabric is great.
Gorgeous photo, gorgeous girl. I love her hair in braids:)
The outfit is fantastic. I really like the contrast on the pants. Are they maroon?
So now maybe it’s time for a new sewing machine to go with the new serger?
I am impressed! Darts – such mysterious things. Lovely fabric.
That outfit is so lovely. I want to have a go at making a few children’s outifts and you have inspired me to have a go…
