Here is my adorable boy modeling his new vestee sweater — pattern on knitty — knit up in Peter Pan Velvet Touch in the Lupin Velvet colorway. I chose this yarn because it is really soft and Tristan may wear this with nothing under it this summer as a coverup. I also had it in my stash. But, I used 4 skeins of it and every skein but one had at least one break and one skein had two breaks. Maybe I just got a bad batch but all those little balls of yarn were annoying and gave me a lot of ends to weave in – yuck.
Cover-up
Pattern: Vestee from knitty
Yarn: Peter Pan’s Velvet Touch in color 1224, Lupin Velvet
Yardage: less than four 114 yard skeins
Needles: US size 7
Gauge: 4 st/in
Modifications: I chose to make it for my size 24 month/2T child by knitting to a larger gauge and increasing the body length before the sleeves by 1/2 inch. I knit it with short sleeves and a hood.

What a little love. Ugh I hate breaks and knots, but you persevered – it looks so good with your adaptations!
SO cute. It looks like a cozy cover-up for leaving the pool…
so sweet, it looks so snuggly (baby included, those chubby legs are the cutest!)
yes -chubby legs are the best:)
I really like the 2nd photo – did you use the white paper background you posted about? Is he sitting on the paper too?
oh! and I love the cover-up. What a great idea.
(ok -I”m not copycatting you on the double post on purpose…)
Cute!
that looks just so comfy and perfect. love the blue!
Adorable! And those legs! I used to call my daughter “Princess Chubby Leg.” I forgot how much I miss those squeezable legs.
Hi! I have been reading your blog for some months now, and am not to leave a comment very often. But today I had to when I saw your boy sucking his fingers. I do it in the same way…Have all my life..now I am 28 and sometimes when I am very tired I catch myself doing it…bad huh…Okay…my confession for today
cool cardigan!
Love the vestee (and the boy in it is awfully cute!). I’m finishing up one with long sleeves and a hood in Malabrigo. I definitely want to do a soft cotton version for summer, though. Yours is lovely.
Lovely! The photos are great as well as the adorable sweater and boy. I’ve been wanting to knit this for Sebastian but he is in size 3T already and I have to do math. Which I don’t mind at all, but I’ve just been too busy. Maybe someday…
