This is more of Katrina’s room. You’ve seen it before — and here too — but I so love this room. You can see the curtains here as well as the roman blinds. The chair we picked up for something like $50 off of craigslist. It was a great buy — it has the original horsehair cushion and I love the claw feet — but needed to be reupholstered. That cost a little bit more than expected due in part, I think, to the channeling on the back. When we were looking at the chair I told Katie to climb up in it and I told the owners I wanted to make sure she could get in and out of it — she was 2.5 years at the time — because it was for her room. They looked at me like I was crazy. Well, she sits in it — and occasionally naps in it — every day.
And just a little note about the stripes. We were pretty successful with the following technique:
- paint the entire wall yellow
- tape for the stripes
- paint the edges of the stripes that will be pink and green with the yellow paint — this is the trick, it ensured that any bleed through was yellow
- paint the green and pink stripes green and pink respectively
- peel the tape
I hope that helps anybody who’s planning to paint stripes anytime soon.

Ahhh the stripes. How I hated the stripes. Why do I always get myself into these painful painting techniques.
such a beautiful room for a little girl!
it is such a beautiful room! thanks for the great tips on painting stripes. I have been wanting to paint stripes, but I am afraid that if I ever want to paint over them I will have a funky texture on the walls to deal with later.
Did you make the drapes?
Love the room, especially the hangers with Katie’s name and the floor. Your house is so tidy! It looks like pictures in a magasine! Hope the flood is now a bad memory.
So cheerful and lovely! I really like the idea of a big fluffy chair in the bedroom. Did you paint the stripes yourself? Very nice.
lovely room…. sweet as candy
Thank you so much for solving my alphabetical problem! I SOOO appreciate it! I love the stripes too! Buy my fav part is a cross between the chair and the letter hooks! I think they are so charming! Thanks again, Smarty
