So after I made this hat for her brother Katrina told me that she wanted one of her own. She actually wanted one that was exactly the same but I wasn’t really up for doing that — making the exact same thing in such a short time frame doesn’t usually work out well for me. I need to change the color or something to keep myself interested. Anyway, I had this yarn from a swap last year and thought it would work well for the hat. I sort of made up the pattern as I went — I’d say it’s a combo of the Meathead hat and the “Suede” hat — really it’s a kludge. The ties are too short — I might make it button under the chin instead — and I think one tie is three stitches wide and the other is four. I’m not sure the earflaps are the same and I think they might be too big. Shall I go on? The gauge is a little too loose for the yarn and the hat itself is maybe a little short. Plus, the pointy top with the earflaps — a style mishap for sure.
It seems to be a hit with Katrina though. She put it on when she woke up this morning and has been sporting it with her PJs since. I’ve always said she has an interesting sense of style.

Oh my.. I am chuckling. Katrina is a doll.. I went back to look at the pointiness of the hat.. Well, let me say anything would look cute and that little munchkin..and, the hat is perfect. Don’t be so hard on yourself…
What a sweet visit… I am going to read around a bit more.. Thanks..
What a cutie. I get the feeling she might start sleeping in that thing! Great job!
very cute. and a great photograph too.
The hat is adorable. I certainly understand why you don’t want to make the exact same one. If you are a sock knitter that could be a problem. LOL
i love yourpost title! too funny. i think the hat looks great…isn’t it always the ones the we’re not too fond of, that they love the most??!!
oh and I’ve been meaning to tell you–i don’t know if it’s my computer–but the text size on the comments in teeny-tiny…so that I can’t read what other people are saying very well. is anyone else having this problem? ha! they wouldn’t be able to read my question, I guess, if they all were….
