Boy, it seems like it’s been all veggies and yardwork around here recently, how boring. Really though, we all have a case of the back-to-school sniffles and we’re trying to re-educate Tristan about sleeping through the night — pretty
boring stuff. Actually, Tristan sleeping all night will be exciting but mostly just for me and Stefan, and well, maybe my mom so she doesn’t have to hear us complain anymore. But back to the recent non-craftiness — blech!
Today however something exciting did happen. The sewing machine came out of the closet in the guest room, was placed on the table in the kitchen, and was used. I’ll wait while you get up off the floor — having fallen out of your chair in shock. I know, I know, I almost fell out of my chair myself. I have a couple of flannel quilts my mom put together for me and when we were making them — I can say we since I cut — I just kept buying flannel EVERYWHERE. So I kind of have a lot left. Anyway, I decided I could maybe try to make a pillow with some of the scraps since a pillow is flat and I wasn’t using the scraps for anything else anyway. My design — if you can call it that
– was for a striped pillow with wonky stripes. I figured it would be wonky anyway so I should just embrace the wonkiness. Anyway, I’m pleased with how it turned out — in all it’s seventh grade home-ec looking glory — and Stefan even lovingly said I could put it on the couch and he wouldn’t be embarassed.
This photo is actually rigged, I stuffed another pillow in there for the picture, the real pillowform will be gotten on Tuesday and then I can sew it shut and call my first sewing project complete.

I heart wonky pillows.
I also heart babies who sleep at night. : )
I too embrace the *wonky*, which is just as well in my case.
: )
haha, i’m also a big supporter of wonky projects. your pillow looks great, i love the blue stripe at the bottom.
I love that quilt. Did you make it? It is absolutely beautiful. I found your blog today and have seen your name posted in other blogs. Your handmade work is stunning.
